UES Weekend Events

Looking for something to do? There’s an eclectic mix of events happening this weekend on the UES — a little latin music, French Institute Bastille Day, family time in the park with Hip-Hop Harry (?) and more.  And if none of the below looks appetizing, you could always tell us your thoughts on the neighborhood’s best and worst bars.

Saturday, July 14
3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m.
Café Tacuba, Pacha Massive, La Sista
Central Park SummerStage www.summerstage.org
“One of Latin’s music’s strengths is its openness to outside influences, as seen with this program featuring three Latin artists who’ve incorporated rock, hip-hop and electronica into their sound.”

Sunday, July 15
French Institute Bastille Day
East 60th Street between 5th and Lexington Aves.
1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m.

Arm-of-the-Sea Theater: At the Turning of the Tide
Great Hill (West Side from 103rd to 107th Streets)
“At the Turning of the Tide is a large-scale theater production that combines lusciously painted mask and puppet characters with live music in a performance spectacle celebrating the Hudson River Estuary.  Arm-of-the-Sea Theater blends art history, politics, and science to reveal the river’s inner life and the community along its shores.”
FREE — for all ages. For more information, please call 212-860-1370 or click here

3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m.
Global Family Day, Hip-Hop Harry, Sippy Cups, Break!
Central Park SummerStage www.summerstage.org
It’s being billed as “kids music that will not bore their parents to tears.”

4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m.
Harlem Meer Performance Festival
Charles A. Dana Discovery Center (Inside the Park at 110th between Fifth and Lenox Aves.)
“Join the Conservancy for the 14th season of this popular Sunday concert series that features the best in local emerging and established Latin, Jazz, World, and Gospel artists.”
