Best Bars on the Upper East Side?

Quick word association: When you hear “Upper East Side” what comes to mind? “Old New York,” “snooty,” “Park Ave.,” “old money” and “Central Park” might be wedged in there somewhere, but aren’t those just the warm-ups for “bars,” “bars,” “bars,” and, well, more bars?

With that in mind, 78thand2nd is working up a master list of the best and worst bars on the Upper East Side (59th to 96th, Central Park to East River), and we’d love to hear what you think. What are the best bars, worst bars, biggest dives, ones with the hottest bartenders, the worst bouncers, shittiest bathrooms, biggest dickhead hangouts, best ones for a date, for a quick drink after work, places for (fill in your favorite team) fans, best places for buy backs – and whatever else comes to mind.

I vote for two equally good bars

    1. David Copperfields (Great Beer)

    2. Blue Moon Saloon (Great Bartenders)

    Worst bar on the UES?

Has *anyone* but me stumbled into the hell hole that is Cabin Fever (75th & York I believe).

Not only is the beer expensive, they apparently don’t serve anything out of their taps (???) past 11. On my first and last visit ever, there was a man with a bicycle singing karaoke.

i drink at wicker park 83/3rd during yanks or mets games, they have 2 dollar bud/light pints. decent makeover from martell’s.

johnny foxes has decent specials during the week too. 81/2nd.

i’ve been pretty lazy lately and looking for decent places to go out on the ues during the week.

oh and i definitely have stumbled into cabin fever, that place sucks.

  4. Hey, cool tips. Perhaps I’ll buy a glass of beer to the man from that forum who told me to visit your blog 🙂

The East End Bar & Grill is a great bar on the UES. It has really good drink deals and a ton of HD tv’s for sporting events. Great food(especially the wings), great staff, great bouncers, great djs on the weekends. Definitely worth checking out.
